New eTwinning project

Last Friday we received great news from ESEP, the Spanish eTwinning National Agency.

Our new eTwinning project tittled 'Amazing Countries' has been approved. We have founded the project with a Greek school. The rest of the partners are from Turkey (two schools) and from Poland.

This is a brief description of the project:

This is a multidisciplinary project about amazing countries around the world, such as Japan, Canada, Australia, India, etc.

Tolerance and respect for other cultures is an important aim we want to acquire. Through the project development students will appreciate new cultures, nature, people, or traditions of other countries.

Each school participating in the project will work about a country that will be determined by that school. Information will be sought about its situation on the map, orography and hydrography, fauna and flora, main traditions (gastronomy, clothing), places to visit, art, important people, or events, etc.

Students will look for information, prepare presentations, share them with their partners, make art projects, sing a song, do videoconferences, and learn about other cultures and countries.

We will start the project in February 2023, and we will work on it until the end of the school year. We will organise a videoconference at the beginning of the project to have the first contact between schools, and to know to each other. We will also manage a video conference a month to share information and ideas about the development of the project. Inclusion will be an important aspect to consider, all students could take part of the project by doing different activities depending on their level.

Pupils will improve their linguistic, artistic, and digital competences. In addition, they will learn about other countries that are very different from their own country.

We will create a blog and a collaborative wall to share all the outcomes and news about the project and an eTwinning corner to display the main information, activities and final products.

Aims

Our project promotes collaborative learning: students learn from each other, interact, communicate and as a result, feel responsible for their own learning.

Students must be able to:

Gather information to learn about amazing countries around the world:

-  Location on the map

-  Orography and hydrography

-  Fauna and Flora

-  Environmental problems

-  Population

-  Political organisation

-  Language

-  Places to visit.

-  Gastronomy

-  Art

-  Sports

-  Important people

-  Important events

-  Some further information

Use ICT resources to look for  information, prepare and share presentations, and communicate with students from other countries.

Improve ICT skills and a safe use of them (become more proficient in using computers by writing a post, using the collaborative wall Padlet and  blog, communicating during videoconferences and other communication tools, such as the  interactive whiteboard).

Improve students’ language skills in a foreign language.

Improve the ability to work in a group.

Carry out an art project.

Sing a popular song from the country they have studied.

Write a slogan/ phrase using the language of the country they have studied, and share with their classmates.

Share the outcomes with the whole school community.

Handmade friendships bracelets

These are the Friendship bracelets we have made to send to our penpals in the USA, as one of the activities proposed this year to improve our English language skills. Well done everybody!
